What does a photographer cost in Stockholm?
The most common question I get is what it costs. Here is the answer, with price ranges per type of photography, what is included and why two quotes can differ by thousands of kronor.
What does a photographer cost per hour?
Most photographers in Stockholm charge between 1,200 and 2,500 kronor per hour excluding VAT. Below 1,000 kronor it is usually a beginner or someone who photographs alongside another job. Above 3,000 kronor per hour you are looking at advertising, magazines or photographers with long experience in a narrow field.
The hourly rate only tells part of the story. One hour of photography means two to four hours of work in practice: preparation, travel, selection, editing and delivery. That is why many photographers, including me, count in half days and full days rather than hours.
A half day, up to four hours on site, usually costs 6,000 to 12,000 kronor. A full day, up to eight hours, costs 12,000 to 25,000 kronor. Editing and delivery of a finished selection are included.
Approximate prices per type of photography
The ranges below reflect the Stockholm market in 2026. Corporate work is quoted excluding VAT, private work including VAT, since that is how you will see the prices presented. My own assignments are priced on request, but they land within these ranges.

What is included in the price?
With an established photographer, more than the hours with the camera is included. This is what you should expect without asking:
- A preparatory call about what you need and where we photograph.
- The photographer's time on site, including time to find light and background.
- Selection. You get the pictures that hold up, not the whole memory card.
- Editing of light, colour and crop on all delivered pictures.
- Delivery in an online gallery where you download in formats for web and print.
- The right to use the pictures in your own channels.
What often comes on top is travel outside Stockholm, same-day rush delivery, a second photographer, extensive retouching, albums and prints, and extended usage rights for advertising.
What affects the price
Two quotes for the same assignment can differ by thousands of kronor. Usually one of these things explains it.
- Time on site. One hour and a full day are different jobs, even if the pictures look alike.
- Number of finished pictures. More pictures mean more selection and editing.
- Delivery time. Pictures the same evening require the photographer to edit on site or right after.
- Usage rights. Pictures for your own channels cost less than pictures for advertising or campaigns.
- Location and travel. Assignments outside Stockholm carry travel time, sometimes accommodation.
- Number of people. Portraits of thirty employees take a day, not an hour.
- Second photographer. For large weddings and events with parallel programmes.
- Retouching. Light retouching is usually included. Changing backgrounds or detailed skin work costs extra.
Usage rights: why the same picture can cost differently
In Sweden the photographer owns the copyright to the pictures. What you buy is the right to use them. That is why a serious photographer always asks what the pictures will be used for.
Pictures for your website, social channels, press releases and internal material are normally included in the price. Pictures for paid advertising, outdoor campaigns, packaging or resale are priced separately, because the picture then does a bigger job for you.
The Swedish Association of Professional Photographers publishes guidelines for how usage rights are typically priced. It is a good reference if you want to compare a quote.
My advice: say in your enquiry what the pictures will be used for. Then you get a price that covers what you need, without paying for rights you will never use.
How to read a quote
A good quote can be compared. Check that it answers these questions:
- How many hours on site are included, and what does extra time cost?
- How many finished pictures do you get, and can you buy more?
- When are the pictures delivered?
- What may you use the pictures for?
- Is travel included, or added?
- What happens if you need to move the date?
- Is the price with or without VAT?
If any of this is missing, ask before you book. It is easier than negotiating afterwards.
Why a cheap photographer can turn out expensive
The low price shows in the quote. What does not show is what happens when the light is difficult, when the speaker on stage is backlit or when the couple has twenty minutes for portraits instead of an hour. Experience is what you pay for: pictures that turn out well even when the conditions are not.
A shoot that has to be redone costs double, plus everyone's time. A wedding cannot be redone at all. So if you choose on price, choose among photographers whose pictures you already like, not among everyone who answers an email.
How to keep the cost down without lowering the quality
- Combine several needs in one day. Leadership portraits in the morning and office pictures in the afternoon cost less than two assignments.
- Decide what the pictures are for before you ask, so you do not pay for rights you do not need.
- Photograph on weekdays and outside peak season. May to September is the most expensive for weddings and events.
- Order the selection you actually need. Ten really good pictures are worth more than a hundred average ones.
- Have a contact person on site who knows the programme. It saves the photographer's time, which is your cost.
How I price my work
I quote per assignment instead of a price list, because a three-hour event with pictures the same evening and a full day delivered next week are different jobs. The quote always states what is included: time on site, number of pictures, delivery time and usage rights. No additions afterwards.

Expect 12,000 to 25,000 kronor excluding VAT for up to eight hours, with editing and delivery in a gallery. A full wedding day is 15,000 to 45,000 kronor including VAT.
